James Island Snapping Turtle

The snapping turtle, Chelydra sepentina, below was brought into the Sea Island Veterinary clinic by a good Samaritan who had found it wandering near the waters edge on James Island.  The turtle appears to have been run over by a motor boat on the river and the propeller ripped out a chunk of it's shell.  The turtle is under long term care at a dedicated turtle care giver.  Click on the images below for a closer look.
